Why Elmoped? What should I consider?
Class 1 or 2? Range? Insurance? Electric mopeds have increasingly taken over the streets with longer range and are cheap in both operation and maintenance. Choosing an electric moped is both environmentally friendly and a pleasant driving experience.
1. Electric instead of gasoline
2-stroke engines that spit out gasoline, a more environmentally friendly 4-stroke engine with smoother operation, or an environmentally friendly and quiet electric motor? The choice shouldn't be too difficult. With an electric moped, you pay 20 öre per mile instead of fueling up and coughing up 7 SEK per mile, and with a fully charged Vässla battery, you can go 4-6 miles before needing to recharge. If you have also purchased an extra battery that is easily stored under the seat, you can go twice as far. Let the battery stay in the electric moped and charge it using an electrical outlet or take out the portable battery and charge it directly with a mains connection. 220V min.10A.

2. Maximize the range.
The range of an electric moped is affected in the same way as fuel consumption in a combustion engine. It goes without saying; if you have a heavy load, face an uphill slope in a headwind, and also have poorly inflated tires, you won't get as far as the opposite. What consumes the most battery is acceleration, so keep a low and steady speed to go further. Tires inflated to 2.5 bars pressure is also a good way to maximize your range.
3. What does class 1 moped mean?
Vässla 2 electric moped is a Class 1, i.e., an EU moped and can be driven at a maximum of 45 km/h. You need to wear a protective helmet and have an EU moped license and be at least 15 years old with AM authorization. Apply for a driving permit and take moped training at a driving school and pass the theory test at the Swedish Transport Agency.
A regular driver's license is of course also fine. The moped must have a registration plate at the back and be at least traffic insured. With the EU moped, you are not allowed to drive on bike paths or motorways. Remember that the passenger must also wear a helmet.
4. Easy to repair and service.
Whether you choose new or used, the moped should be serviced regularly and we think you should do your first check already after a few months. The most important reason is to retighten bolts and check brakes. Before you choose an electric moped, check how easy it is to get spare parts and service. Some cheaper models become expensive in the long run when they cannot be repaired. We provide a 2-year warranty on the electric moped, and a 1-year warranty on the battery. On the Vässla Kick, we provide a 1-year warranty. More information is available under warranty & returns.

5. Insurance for electric moped.
Before you can feel the wind in your hair, you must have insurance. The minimum is a so-called traffic insurance. It does not cover damages to the moped, but mainly covers damages to other road users and their property, for example if you hit a car. If you are injured in a traffic accident, traffic insurance also provides compensation to you and your passengers.
We still recommend choosing either full or partial insurance. Partial insurance includes, besides traffic insurance and traffic accident coverage, protection against fire and theft. Full insurance covers damages to the moped itself as a result of, for example, a traffic accident.
